The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at Smokies Stadium, knocking off the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 6-1. Starting pitcher Michael Wright was a big reason why. Wright got the win, improving to 2-5. He allowed 1 hit and walked 3 over 6 innings. Wright allowed 1 run. The Hawks are now 26-28, while the Hobeaus fall to 21-33.

In the top of the second, with Laredo leading 1-0, center fielder Chris Thompson hit a 2-run single. The hit came off Quincy Rose and put the Hawks ahead, 3-0.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Wright.
