Hobeaus Best Hawks in Pitching Duel
|
Carlos Mejía pitched well, but the Laredo Hawks still lost the game, falling 2-0 to the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus at Smokies Stadium. Ron Canseco closed the door for Smoky Mountain, picking up his 5th save of the year. The Hobeaus go to 20-32 with the win.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Laredo trailing 2-0, Ron Canseco needed to get a big out. On a 0-2 fastball, Will Moore, who is tied for 8th in the PA with a .868 OPS, struck out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
