Columbia River Rats starter Dale Burney was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Kennesaw Jets, 6-4. Carlos Maldonado closed the door for Columbia, picking up his 32nd save of the year. Columbia leads the Silver A by 2½ games.
Columbia used the timely hitting of José Aguilar to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Rats ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It's a mindset," said Burney. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
