The Grim Reapers had to overcome a fine effort from Delmarva pitcher Fokke Kaspers to grab a narrow 2-0 win at The Cage. Kaspers went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Ed Moore, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-1. Michael Pace, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save.
Grim used the timely hitting of Shawn Jackson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reapers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"A great game, a great day," said Jackson about the win. "I can't complain."
The victory puts Grim at 33-55.
