Columbia Topples Kennesaw, 5-1
|
The Kennesaw Jets got a sterling performance from pitcher Brent Allen, but the Columbia River Rats still prevailed, 5-1. Allen threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Hubert Reed earned the win to go to 8-6. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. With the win, Columbia pushed its record to 57-31.
Graham Wooten had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Columbia. He came through with a 2-run single to put Columbia in front, 4-1.
In comments to the Columbia Bulletin, Wooten admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
