The Yucca Valley Yellows got a superb performance from pitcher Yan Velthuizen, but the Delmarva Gallos still won the game, 5-1. Velthuizen threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Greg Hawkins in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Yan Velthuizen took the loss. The Gallos now have a record of 50-37.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Juan Benítez was at the plate when Delmarva scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Gallos to go in front, 3-1.
Benítez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
