Manatees Top River Rats, 5-2, Behind Contreras
|
The Matlacha Manatees topped the Columbia River Rats, 5-2, in USSL Single A action at Fuller Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Matlacha pitcher Alfredo Contreras. Getting the save was Victor Jones, his 34th. The Manatees, at 55-30, lead by one game in their division.
Contreras, the winner, is now 9-3 after putting the clamps on the Columbia offense. In 8 innings of work, he gave up no runs on 4 hits, while collecting 6 Ks.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Contreras.
