River Rats Sneak Past Gallos, 2-1

The Columbia River Rats did just enough to secure a victory over the Delmarva Gallos, 2-1, at The Cage. Nobody did more than pitcher Dale Burney. Rob Sawyer came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 4-3. The first-place River Rats have won 5 consecutive games.
Columbia relied on the hitting of Juan Santos to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the River Rats on top, 2-1. For the game, Santos had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Columbia manager Kevin McCoy.
