Manatees Deal Chukars 6-2 Defeat
|
Matlacha starter Gabriel Salas had a strong outing against the Idaho Falls Chukars at Idaho Falls Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 6-2 win. Victor Jones, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 28th save. With the win, Matlacha goes to 47-28, while the Chukars fall to 27-48.
Matlacha used the bat of Koos van den Heuvel to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Manatees ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Nervous? No," said van den Heuvel. "It was my time to shine."
