The South Beach Blaze defeated the Cut Off Crawdads, 3-1, in USPL Single A action at Crawdads Field. South Beach pitcher Jeff Floyd had a standout performance. Floyd got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 hit and walked 0 over 5 innings. Floyd allowed 1 run. South Beach goes to 3-1.
South Beach relied on the hitting of Melvin Morgan to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blaze on top, 2-0. For the game, Morgan had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Morgan.
