In a tight game between the Yucca Valley Yellows and the Kingston Mangos, pitcher Ed Taylor was terrific on the mound. The Yucca Valley left-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Taylor, now 6-5. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Getting the save was Joe Anthony, his 16th.

Yucca Valley used a timely hit from Gonzalo Ordóñez to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Runs were at a premium," said Yucca Valley manager Pat Carrasco.

The 6th-place Yellows sport a record of 33-28.
