The Matlacha Manatees did just enough to secure a victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars, 5-4, at Fuller Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Ijsbert Pelikaan. In 5 innings, Pelikaan surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Pie-qi Huang recorded his 1st save for Matlacha.

The Manatees got an important contribution from third baseman Pablo Bazarte, who in the bottom of the second knocked a first pitch fastball into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Manatees ahead, 5-2.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Idaho Falls manager Fernando Mendoza. "But we decided not to take it."

The second-place Manatees now have a win-loss record of 32-22.
