Walk-Off Win Makes Washington 43-53
|
The Washington Generals topped the Niagara Falls Expos, 4-3, in M3L Single A action at Washington Park. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and Ecatepec, Mexico, native Eduardo Soto. Larry Hodge came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. With the win, Washington goes to 43-53, while the Expos fall to 35-61.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, third baseman Winston Stewart won it for Washington. With a runner on 2nd, Stewart hit a 0-1 splitter from Seung-woo Ch'oe for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Soto said in his postgame press conference.
