Rainbow Mermaids Stumble, Lose to Lakers
Echo Park and Northern Virginia got after it at LA Forum.

Okakura Samurakami had a hand in Echo Park defeating Northern Virginia by the score of 8-3. Samurakami went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 3 times and driving in 1 runs. George Hensley, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Northern Virginia to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. Jason Cannon picked up the save for Echo Park, his 1st of the year.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at LA Forum seemed to enjoy watching the United States Silver League action.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Samurakami said. "We did a good job of that today."

The win lifts Echo Park to a record of 2-2.
