Rocketeers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Oaks
|
Seattle starter Todd Johnson put a stranglehold on the Oakland offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Rocketeers to a 5-1 win. Seattle reliever Ben van de Loo picked up the win to move to 1-0. Andy Dundee suffered the loss. With the loss, Oakland is 0-2.
The most important at-bat for Seattle came in the top of the 12th inning, when left fielder Vicente Torres stroked a full count sinker to right for a 2-run single, putting Seattle up, 3-1.
In postgame comments, Johnson said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
