Walleye Curb Caterpillars, 2-1
|
Grand Forks wasted a solid 8-inning effort from starting pitcher Larry Crowder, losing to Walla Walla, 2-1, at Walleye Tank. Pablo Gonzáles picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 9-3. Walla Walla currently is in first place in the Menard's A at 48-21.
The Walleye got a big hit from designated hitter Dwayne Gunn. In the bottom of the sixth, Gunn smacked a 2-run double off Grand Forks pitcher Larry Crowder. It was his 8th double of the season. Suddenly, the Walleye were ahead, 2-1.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Walleye manager Calvin Beck, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
