Atoms Best Love Boats, 6-5
|
The Bethesda Atoms topped the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 6-5, in USSL Double A action at Atoms Field. The standout performance belonged to Bethesda pitcher and Honolulu, Hawaii, native Lokela Kapeliela. Bethesda reliever Mei-shio Qin picked up the win, raising his record to 1-2. Timmo de Jonge was tagged with the loss. Bethesda now sits in 4th place in the Silver AA at 51-48.
Had Tracy Collins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Collins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Atoms.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Collins told the Bethesda Citizen.
