Highlanders Prevail, 3-1, Over Barton Springs
|
Quinton Lee pitched well, but the Barton Springs Blues still lost the game, falling 3-1 to the Asheville Highlanders at Asheville Park. Asheville reliever Carlos Cruz picked up the win to move to 4-0. Quinton Lee suffered the loss. Min Der earned his 17th save in 20 chances.
The Highlanders got a big at-bat from designated hitter Orel Vodarsky. For the game, Vodarsky was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season gave Asheville a 1-0 lead.
Vodarsky called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
Asheville goes to 58-33. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.
