Atoms Suffer 2-1 Setback
|
Richland starter Jorge Zapata put a stranglehold on the Bethesda offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Rails to a 2-1 win. The 6th-place Rails now have a win-loss record of 40-46.
Had Willie Davidson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Davidson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rails.
Zapata told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
