Highlanders Deal Dolphins 5-3 Defeat
|
The Asheville Highlanders topped the Pine Island Dolphins, 5-3, at Asheville Park. Asheville third baseman Han-wu Woo banged out 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 1 runs. Asheville reliever Scotty Mays got the win, raising his record to 6-0. Cédric Barbot was tagged with the loss. The first-place Highlanders raised their record to 55-31.
The Highlanders got an important contribution from first baseman Kelvin van Enk, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a changeup into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Woo, "and today was a good one for us."
