Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Rails
|
Chesapeake got a terrific performance from pitcher Zayn Reddy, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richland Rails. Richland won the Ghost Crab Park contest, 5-2. Reddy threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Richland is now 38-46. Chesapeake is 38-46.
Richland used a clutch hit from Bao-tian Yang to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rails ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Yang, cracking a smile.
