Mariachis Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rails
|
Nuevo Mexico and Richland played a hard-fought contest.
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis had to overcome a fine performance from Richland pitcher Kaimalie Heathershaw to grab a 3-2 win at Rails Ballpark. Heathershaw allowed 1 run over 6.2 innings. Torvald Bogermans, now 1-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Picking up the save was Alan Mytton, his 4th.
Nuevo Mexico needed the clutch hitting of Monty Crawford to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mariachis on top, 3-2. For the game, Crawford had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Richland manager Tony Newell. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
The 7th-place Rails have dropped 4 straight games.
