Asheville beat Pine Island at Goodyear Hanger Dome, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Kelvin van Enk. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Min Der notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now sits at 4-2. The Highlanders have an impressive 41-25 record.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Kelvin van Enk, hit a double. It helped Asheville seize the win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Asheville manager Don Thomas.
