Right-hander Kevin Thornton mesmerized the Asheville Highlanders while leading the Yakima Hops to a 1-0 victory. Baltwin Bartels closed the game out for Yakima, earning his 4th save. Yakima, at 30-32, sits in 6th place in the Silver AA.
It could have been a different outcome for Yakima, had it not been for Gustavo Alicea, the 21-year old first baseman . Alicea contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Yakima up, 1-0.
Alicea called the win "a team effort."
