Asheville Dismisses Barton Springs, 3-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders eked out a 3-2 win versus the Barton Springs Blues at Blues Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Andy Johnson. He was terrific. Johnson picked up the win for Asheville, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Min Der got credit for the save for Asheville. It was his 10th of the year.
Kelvin van Enk tagged a home run off Herman Clayton in the top of the first. His 2-run blast put the Highlanders on top, 2-0. In all, van Enk had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We did enough to win," said van Enk.
The Highlanders, at 37-23, sit in second place in the Silver AA.
