Skidding Rails Lose 7th Straight
|
Richland got a terrific performance from pitcher Elroy Mastenbroek, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas. Chesapeake won the Rails Ballpark contest, 3-2. Mastenbroek threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The Cangrejos Fantasmas improved to 19-22.
Chesapeake used the timely hitting of Tony Díaz to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Sometimes, you can be too aggressive," said Richland manager Tony Newell. "You need to let the game come to you."
