Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the St. Petersburg Thunder got the win.

The St. Petersburg Thunder defeated the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 4-3, in USSL Double A action at Ghost Crab Park. St. Petersburg pitcher Colm Broomfield had a standout performance. Ed Wheeler was credited with the save for St. Petersburg, his 3rd of the season.

St. Petersburg got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Jay Fuller. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunder ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Fuller. "I think we showed that here."

The 7th-place Thunder improved to 16-20.
