Starting pitcher Herman Clayton was a major factor in the 5-2 Barton Springs Blues triumph over the Bethesda Atoms. Clayton, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Sun-ho Yang earned the save for Barton Springs, his 3rd of the year.

The Atoms had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Blues going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old catcher Paul Parker came to the plate. Parker hit a 2-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Bethesda hurler Júlio Rocho. It was Parker's 2nd home run of the year.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Barton Springs manager Joe Kehoe.

The 9th-place Atoms have dropped 6 straight games.
