Cangrejos Fantasmas Lose Late, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest, Richland pitcher Jeffrey Fields was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. Picking up the save was Eldon Williams, his 1st. With the loss, Chesapeake falls to 6-11.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when second baseman Matt Jenkins, who is tied for 3rd in the SAA in runs scored with 14, hit a triple. The Rails went on to win.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Jenkins told the Richland Times. "But we take nothing for granted."
