Highlanders Deal Atoms 6-4 Loss
|
The Asheville Highlanders topped the Bethesda Atoms, 6-4, in USSL Double A action at Atoms Field. The standout performance belonged to Asheville pitcher and Ft. Worth, Texas, native Anthony Patterson. In 7 innings, Patterson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. The win puts Asheville at 6-4.
Asheville used the bat of José Arizandieta to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"I still think this team can play even better," Arizandieta told the Asheville Observer.
