Miners Pick Up 3-1 Win
|
Marquette Miners starter Bill Lund pitched his team past the Billings Polar Bears, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Lund, now 9-10. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Ambrosi Pigafetta recorded his 13th save for Marquette.
Michael Young had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the seventh for Marquette. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Marquette in front, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Lund said in reaction to the win.
The Miners saw their win-loss record go to 44-46. At the same time, the Polar Bears fell to 39-51.
