The Colorado Billy Goats defeated the Boston Patriots, 5-4, in United States Premier League action at Grazing Hills. Mhelter Tejano pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran was 3 for 3 with 3 doubles and a walk. The winning pitcher was Mark Hodge. He's now 4-7. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits for the Billy Goats. Roberto Morales recorded the save, his 2nd.
Had Freek Derksen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Derksen hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Billy Goats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Boston manager Tyler Carter said following the tough loss.
