Tagwerker Pops Two Homers in 5-4 Win for Marquette
|
Fans watched the Marquette Miners and the Northville Eclipse fight to the finish.
The Marquette Miners beat the Northville Eclipse by a score of 5-4. Marquette right fielder Ron Tagwerker deserved the lion's share of the credit. Tagwerker slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Miners. Joe Morris got the win, improving to 4-4. He held the Eclipse to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The save went to Ambrosi Pigafetta, number 4 for him.
Marquette took a 5-2 lead on Tagwerker's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Steve Boyd in the top of the sixth, propelled Marquette to the win.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Tagwerker.
Their 27-32 record puts the Miners 9th in the Menard's AA.
