Saboteurs Stick Polar Bears with 8-6 Loss
|
The Toledo Saboteurs beat the Billings Polar Bears by a score of 8-6. Toledo designated hitter Vincente Valentín deserved the lion's share of the credit. Valentín was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Saboteurs. With the win, Toledo has a record of 25-29. Billings falls to 26-28.
Toledo used the clutch hitting of Lou Orr to capture the win. The catcher drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Saboteurs the lead, 7-3. For the game, Orr had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
Saboteurs manager José Zamora wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
