Marquette pitcher Chien-shih Chen did his part in helping his team beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winner in relief was Arturo Sánchez. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The Miners improve their record to 23-28 with the win over Tacoma.
Chen came through with some timely hitting for Marquette. With Tacoma trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Chen hit a 1-2 forkball for a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season made it 4-2, Marquette.
Chen told a Marquette Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
