Miners Top Sixshooters to Even Record
|
Marquette Miners starter Bill Lund turned in a top-notch performance against the Westwood Sixshooters at Marquette Stadium. The result was a win for the Miners, 1-0. The winning pitcher was Lund, now 5-4. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The save went to Nelson Carrasco, number 11 for him.
Tied up with the Sixshooters in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Miners got a boost from first baseman Jeffrey Dale. With a runner on 2nd, Dale saw a full count fastball from Gus Clark and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Marquette on top, 1-0.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Lund said.
The 6th-place Miners are now 20-20, the Sixshooters 18-22.
