Pilgrims Deal Polar Bears 6-2 Setback
|
Providence rode a good effort from starter Gil McCarthy to beat the Billings Polar Bears at Field of Plenty. The final score was 6-2. At 25-14, the Pilgrims find themselves in second place in the Menard's AA.
Providence designated hitter Jesús Sierra contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Pilgrims ahead, 3-2.
Sierra attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
