Saboteurs Fall Short, 9-8, at Westwood
|
In a high-scoring contest between Westwood and Toledo, catcher Dan Love was a difference-maker. Love, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2050 draft, distinguished himself in the 9-8 Westwood win. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Westwood reliever Alberto Avalos got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Shuji Kokawa was tagged with the loss. Dave Carroll, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the sixth, Westwood center fielder Horace Ellis hit a 2-run single to center field. It put the Sixshooters up, 7-5.
"What a game," said Ellis. "We needed every last run."
Westwood's record now stands at 14-16, placing them 8th in the Menard's AA.
