Pilgrims Defeat Nationals, 2-1
|
The Providence Pilgrims did just enough to secure a victory over the Ottawa Nationals, 2-1, at Field of Plenty. Nobody did more than pitcher Gil McCarthy. The winning pitcher was McCarthy, now 4-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Getting the save was Lodovico Tadini, his 2nd.
The Pilgrims got a lift from second baseman Brody King who had a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning off Dave Wilson. It was his 1st home run of the season and put Providence in front, 2-1.
"Getting the win feels nice," said McCarthy. "More importantly, I had a good game."
The Pilgrims now have a record of 18-10 with the win over Ottawa.
