Divided Lose Late, 5-3
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC topped the D.C. Divided, 5-3, in 13 innings. Thunder Bay right fielder Andy Gould, in particular, was impressive. He went 5 for 6 with a home run, 2 doubles, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. Mike Allen, now 3-10, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. At 38-47, the Northern Lions BC claim 10th place in the Third League.
Thunder Bay used the clutch hitting of Steve Scott to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 13th inning to give the Northern Lions BC the lead, 4-3. For the game, Scott had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Scott. "I like it."
