The home crowd had a good time watching the D.C. Divided and Detroit Elite get after it.

The Detroit Elite beat the D.C. Divided, 9-3. Detroit pitcher and Pinar del Rio, Cuba, native José Martínez led the way. Martínez, now 10-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs.

Detroit catcher Pedro Costa contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 39th hit of the season and put the Elite ahead, 2-0.

"José was throwing strikes, locating well," said Detroit manager Dustin Hewitt.

The Elite go to 47-28, putting them first in the Third League.
