Long Island Beats Charleston, 6-2
|
The Long Island Lighthouse got a strong performance from pitcher Manuel Martínez, who stymied the Charleston offense en route to a win, 6-2, at The Lighthouse. Martínez, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 6 walks. The Lighthouse raised their record to 35-28.
The Lighthouse took the lead in the bottom of the second when Jamie Moss banged a two-out single. Long Island had been trailing 1-0, but Moss hit a first pitch cutter from Raúl Fuentes for a 2-run single.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Moss after the game.
