Thunder Bay got a big-time effort from pitcher Javier Gallardo, but it wasn't enough to keep the Montana Pandas from winning the game, 4-0. Gallardo threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Jim Hunter picked up the win in relief for Montana, while Mike Allen took the loss. Montana, at 37-23, is 2 games up in the Third League.

Montana needed the clutch hitting of Gaballah Murunga to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Pandas on top, 4-0. For the game, Murunga had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It was terrific getting this win," Murunga said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
