Grey Wolves Outmuscle Buckhead, 9-8
|
Buckhead right fielder José Eiriz was sensational. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Vancouver beat the Bowties, 9-8. The winning pitcher was Marx Lieftink. He tossed 103 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. The Grey Wolves, at 22-29, sit in 11th place in the Third League.
Sonny Day, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2041 draft, contributed to the Vancouver win with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Grey Wolves manager David Krause wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
