van der Goor, Battery Too Much for Northern Lions BC

The Charleston Battery dealt the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC a 4-3 loss at Charleston Armory. Nando van der Goor was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Paul Haines earned the win to go to 3-4. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 10 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. Earning his 10th save for Charleston was James Tucker.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the fifth, van der Goor had a key at-bat for Charleston. With runners on 1st and 2nd, van der Goor, who is tied for 10th in the 3L with a .891 OPS, hit a run-scoring single off Ralph Hanscombe, making the score 4-3, Battery.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," van der Goor told the Charleston Chronicle. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
The Battery are now 20-24, while the Northern Lions BC fall to 17-27.
