The Providence Pilgrims got a sterling performance from pitcher Gil McCarthy, but the Casper Ghosts still prevailed, 3-2. McCarthy threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Yasuoka Miyazaki got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Casper goes to 10-3 with the win.
Casper needed the clutch hitting of Román Merced to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ghosts on top, 3-2. For the game, Merced had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
