Kingfishers Saddle White Walkers with 5-2 Loss
|
Pittsburgh beat Buffalo on the strength of starter Craig Culver's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Culver went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-4. The save went to Elton Ray, number 13 for him.
Jim Johnson had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Pittsburgh. He came through with a 2-run double to put Pittsburgh in front, 5-2.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Culver. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Kingfishers move to 23-37 with the win, while the White Walkers drop to 32-28.
