Tight Tilt Goes to Tritons, 4-3
|
The Tritons grabbed a win, 4-3, at Jersey City Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Ft. Myers pitcher Alain Monnet. Monnet went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Chet Goode, the winner, goes to 1-2. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Earning his 4th save for Jersey City was Rusty Williams.
Víctor Salazar had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Jersey City left fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Tritons in front, 4-3.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Ft. Myers manager Marvin Nelson.
The 9th-place Tritons go to 35-48.
