Atkins Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
|
It was high-fives all around for Keith Atkins at Norfolk Field today.
He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the Austin Black Mambas. Atkins smashed 5 hits in 5 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 7-0 win.
"Keith was hitting everything," said Pajaritos manager José Rodríguez. "It really was a special game for him."
In the opposing dugout, Black Mambas manager Mike Silver told BNN beat writers that Atkins "ambushed" the club.
"Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," the skipper said. "Hopefully, Atkins oversleeps next time."
Keith Atkins singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Miguel Ávila in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Miguel Ávila in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year Atkins has socked 37 hits in 129 at-bats for a .287 average with 14 home runs. He is getting on base at a .354 pace and his totals also include 28 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
