The Salt Lake City Buzz beat the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 12-3, at Spirits Stadium. The Buzz got a fine performance from first baseman Anthony Potter, who was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Salt Lake City reliever Arthur Corrigan picked up the win to move to 1-0. Gani Palu-ay suffered the loss. The 6th-place Buzz raised their record to 35-42.

Making an impact for Salt Lake City was center fielder James Carroll. He drilled a double in the bottom of the first. For the game, Carroll went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times.
